Tuesday produced another packed night of grassroots darts, with 51 tournaments added to the Q4QS database from across the country.
As usual, the focus here is primarily on the South West and surrounding areas, and there was plenty to pick out. Pete Hughes produced the standout local performance at Bretforton, while there were victories for Lee Andrews in Bristol, Warren Ryan at Portishead and Daren Field in Chard.
Further afield, some huge individual averages were recorded on a night where several players broke through the 100 barrier.
Pete Hughes Impresses Again at Bretforton
One of the performances of the night came from Pete Hughes at the Vault 18.0 event at Bretforton Sports Club, Evesham.
Hughes went all the way to the title, defeating Dave Honey 3–0 in the final, and his numbers across the tournament were particularly impressive.
He recorded a 103.66 average against Vicky Barnett and followed that with a 100.78 against Dave Barnett. Another 98.48 came during his meeting with Mitchell Leeming as Hughes accumulated eight wins across the event.
Antony Butler also registered a 93.94, while Mitchell Leeming hit 93.08.
It was another strong night at Bretforton and Hughes continues to be a name regularly appearing among the better performers in these results round-ups.
Lee Andrews Takes Bristol Victory
At Bessellscotts in Bristol, it was Lee Andrews who emerged victorious.
Andrews defeated Matthew Reddy 3–0 in the final and recorded five wins during the tournament. His best recorded average was 78.60, with further efforts of 75.74, 75.15 and 73.92 appearing among the leading performances at the venue.
Matthew Reddy also collected five victories, while Joe Preedy reached four.
Warren Ryan Wins at Portishead
There was a competitive field once again at Portishead Workmens Darts, where the Tuesday Open also offered a prize for the furthest-progressing under-55 player.
Warren Ryan took the title, beating Steve Boundy 4–2 in the final.
Interestingly, Boundy produced several of the best individual averages of the tournament, including an 85.89, but Ryan ultimately claimed the main prize. Both players finished the night with eight recorded wins.
Daren Field Wins in Chard
Daren Field was another familiar name among Tuesday's winners, taking the Vault 18.0 event at The Choughs Hotel in Chard.
Field defeated Kieran Spurdle 3–1 in the final, finishing with seven victories for the night.
Darren Herbert recorded the highest average at the venue with 85.89, while Field produced an 85.03 during his victory over Herbert.
Plenty More Across the South West
Tuesday's programme stretched much further across the region.
At the JDC VOLTS Series event in Minehead, Kyle Chivers took the title after beating Aaron Rea 3–1 in the final. Chivers recorded eight wins during the tournament.
Further south at Indian Queens in Cornwall, Gareth Griffiths enjoyed an excellent evening. Griffiths won the tournament and produced averages of 98.02, 96.97, 96.97 and 94.66 among his recorded performances.
The Tiverton event did not have a winner/final detected in the available match data, so I won't attribute a tournament victory there. However, Andy Steed recorded a 100.20 average, while Craig Todd hit 93.94.
Big Numbers Further Afield
There were some eye-catching averages elsewhere in Tuesday's results.
The highest recorded mark was 107.36, achieved independently by Ryan Davies, Liam Cook, Daniel Astbury and John Roberts. Bryan Flew wasn't far behind with a 104.86, while several more players topped 100.
Liam Cook also converted his big scoring into a tournament victory at the PILCS Club in Pontypool, while John Roberts won at The Church Wicketts in Dawley.
It is worth remembering that these are individual match averages rather than tournament averages, but they provide another useful snapshot of the level being produced around the grassroots game.
Another Busy Tuesday in the Database
With 51 tournaments added, Tuesday was another substantial night for the Q4QS database.
Beyond simply recording winners, continuing to collect these results starts to build a much bigger picture: which players are winning regularly, who is producing the strongest numbers, which venues are attracting competitive fields and who may be worth watching over the weeks and months ahead.
And on this particular Tuesday, Pete Hughes' combination of a tournament victory and multiple high averages makes his Bretforton performance particularly difficult to overlook.
