Yesterday’s Darts Results: Big Numbers at GWRSA as Spurdle Takes Grand Prix Finals (20th August 2026)

Wednesday 19 August produced another varied night across the grassroots darts scene, with 32 tournaments added to the Q4QS database.

There were strong performances across the South West, a particularly eye-catching night at the GWRSA Club, another title for Shaun Vernall, and a Grand Prix Finals victory for Keiran Spurdle. The JDC VOLTS programme was busy again too, while several players broke through the 90 and 100-average barriers.

Spurdle takes the Pawlett Pavilion Grand Prix Finals

One of the night's standout local results came at the Pawlett Pavilion Grand Prix Finals, where Keiran Spurdle came through a competitive field to take the title.

Spurdle recorded a best average of 87.07 and eventually defeated CJ Ayres 3–2 in the final. Ayres himself had produced an 85.08 earlier in the competition.

Spurdle finished with six wins, while Dave Fisher recorded five and Ayres five, rounding off the Grand Prix series with a closely fought finale.

Vernall wins at Evesham

Shaun Vernall added another tournament victory at Evesham Darts Competitions.

Vernall won seven matches and defeated Nick Kibble 4–1 in the final, recording several solid averages along the way including an 83.15.

The biggest individual number at Evesham belonged to Curtis Savage, however, with an excellent 96.97 average.

Nick Kibble and Reece Pinches both recorded six wins as Vernall ultimately emerged on top.

Huge scoring at GWRSA

Some of Wednesday's best numbers came from the GWRSA Club.

Roger Crook produced the highest recorded average anywhere in Wednesday's results with a superb 103.66, while Johnny Haines wasn't far behind with a 100.20 and another performance of 98.68.

Yet neither won the tournament.

That honour went to Andy Smith, who recorded a 96.97 of his own during the event and eventually beat Crook 3–0 in the final.

Smith finished the night with eight victories, Crook seven and Haines six – a very strong tournament by any measure.

Chris Hurds wins in Leominster

Chris Hurds was another of Wednesday's featured winners, coming through the Money Money Out event in Leominster.

Hurds recorded an 86.71 average during his run before beating Hayden Newman 3–2 in the final.

Alec McCready also featured prominently, twice recording 83.50 averages and picking up six wins during the tournament.

Stone comes through at Stalbridge

At Stalbridge, Steve Stone began the new season with a tournament victory.

Stone defeated Jonathan Stuart 3–2 in the final, finishing the competition with seven victories.

The performance numbers were headed by Max Adams, who produced a 93.94 average as well as an 85.89 during the event.

Kearns takes Purton Under-70 competition

Another sizeable competition took place at Purton, with 70 matches recorded in the Under-70 Average Cash In-Cash Out event.

Dani Kearns eventually took the title, beating Phil Gray 4–2 in the final.

Gray actually finished with eight wins, while Kearns, Gavin Lloyd and Wayne Millin all recorded seven. Samuel King produced the highest recorded average of the competition at 83.50.

Bailey wins nine at Devizes

Christopher Bailey had a long route to victory at the Devizes Town Under-70 Round Robin.

Bailey accumulated nine wins before edging Ian Runnacles 4–3 in the final.

The best recorded average came from Darren Braine at 81.24, while Mike Barton, Dave Sheppard, Liam Garnett and Andy Evans were among the other leading performers.

Zach Quinn takes ADC sanctioned event

There was also a substantial ADC Sanctioned Round Robin at the Sartan Club, with 75 matches recorded.

Zach Quinn took the title with a 4–1 final victory over Ryan Palmer, recording an 89.10 in that match.

Ryan Smith produced the tournament's best recorded average at 93.94, with Palmer hitting 93.38 and Adrian Wood 91.09. Quinn finished with seven victories, while Palmer, Geoff James and Ryan Smith were among those on six.

Another busy JDC VOLTS night

The JDC VOLTS continued across several venues.

Among Wednesday's winners were Dylan Person, Steffan Thomas, Jay Cottier, Harley Glycos, Rhys Evans, Carson Needs and George Miller.

One of the performances of the night came from Harley Glycos at Out Out Bar in Newport. Glycos produced a 93.94 average and went on to win the tournament with six victories.

At The Kings Pub in Exeter, George Miller defeated Oliver Hutchings 3–2 to take the title, with Hutchings recording six victories across the competition.

More Wednesday winners

There was plenty more happening across the night's 32 competitions.

Louise Pearson won eight matches to take the Top Tee Vault Inbetweener, defeating Toby McLeod 3–2 in the final and recording a best of 83.50.

Reece Colley won the Bostin Darts Vault-style round robin, recording a 93.94 on his way to eight victories and the title.

And there was an excellent performance from Louis Melville at the Shooters warm-up. Melville recorded a 100.20 average, followed it with a 90.18 and ultimately completed an eight-win night by taking the title.

Wednesday's standout numbers

There were four ton-plus recorded averages among the leading performances:

Roger Crook – 103.66
Johnny Haines – 100.20
Louis Melville – 100.20
Kev Brown – 100.20

Johnny Haines also recorded 98.68, while Andy Smith and Curtis Savage both hit 96.97.

Another night where the highest average didn't necessarily mean lifting the trophy – and another useful batch of grassroots results added to the growing Q4QS picture.
