Sunday was one of the busiest days I have added to the Q4QS database recently, with 40 tournaments recorded from 23 August.
From the PDC Women’s Series to JDC VOLTS events around the country, restricted-average competitions and busy local opens, there was a huge amount of darts taking place.
Beau Greaves provided the biggest-name success of the day, while Ben Rowley produced some exceptional numbers, Steve Boundy collected another title and there were plenty of South West and junior stories to follow.
Greaves takes Women’s Series 19
Beau Greaves continued her success on the PDC Women’s Series by winning Event 19, beating Lisa Ashton 5-3 in the final.
Greaves won seven matches during the tournament and produced a 96.97 average in a 4-0 victory, followed later by 96.30 in her 5-1 win over Aileen de Graaf.
Ashton enjoyed an excellent run herself, winning six matches and recording 90.54, while Fallon Sherrock reached 93.94 and de Graaf 93.22.
Rowley hits huge numbers
One of Sunday's most eye-catching grassroots performances came from Ben Rowley at the Gap Week MIMO at Phoenix Darts Club.
Rowley won the competition with a 3-0 victory over Charlie Hymers in the final – and his numbers during the tournament were outstanding.
He produced recorded averages of 109.98, 104.86 and 100.20, with the 104.86 coming in the final itself.
Whatever the level or format, three separate ton-plus performances in the same event certainly stand out.
Boundy adds another title
Steve Boundy has featured regularly in these roundups recently and he was back among the winners on Sunday.
Boundy won the CUFC Open, defeating Andy Darbon 3-0 in the final after a tournament in which 75 matches were recorded.
His best performance was a 93.94 average, while he accumulated eight victories during the event. Darbon reached the final after seven wins.
Scott Mc wins at Wiltshire Darts House
There was another competitive Sunday Open at Wiltshire Darts House, with Scott Mc eventually taking the title.
Scott defeated Danny Humphries 5-3 in the final after recording nine victories across the competition.
Humphries may have finished runner-up but produced one of the day's strongest conventional averages with 103.66, while Scott reached 93.94 and Johnny Haines 91.09.
Richardson comes through high-quality Earls Barton event
The Silver Band pre-Vault round robin also produced some impressive numbers.
James Richardson beat Josh Richardson 3-2 in the final after both players reached a 100.20 average during the competition.
James added a 98.02 performance and collected ten victories, while Josh won nine matches and also recorded 99.40 and 92.02.
That looks like one of the strongest local events of Sunday's schedule.
South West JDC successes
There was a huge programme of JDC VOLTS action and several events across the South West.
At The Kings Pub in Exeter, Joseph Lauridsen defeated Quin Dymond 3-1 in the final. Both players finished with six victories, while George Miller produced the event's highest recorded average of 83.50.
At The Banckers Draught in Minehead, Charlie Mossman enjoyed an excellent day, beating Luhandré Laage in the final. Mossman won nine matches and recorded an 88.41 along the way.
There were JDC winners elsewhere too, including Arjun Sharma, Zach Langley, Jay Cottier, Ryan-Rai Rushton, Riley Pinhorne, Charlie Wills, James Prettyjohn, Rhys Evans and Riley Herbert across another extremely busy day for the junior circuit.
King takes the Portishead Under-55
The restricted-average competitions continue to provide some of the most competitive grassroots tournaments.
At Portishead Workmens Darts, Ryan King won the Under-55 Sunday Lunch, defeating Archie O'Driscoll 3-2 in the final.
King, O'Driscoll and Kristian Postlethwaite each recorded six victories during the tournament, with Joshua Geal producing its highest recorded average of 62.02.
More Sunday winners
There were plenty more performances worth noting.
Cody Kibble won the DARTMANN Under-70 tournament at Matson Rugby Club, beating Paul Meyer in the final.
Liam Hughes took the Champs Vault Break Week 1 competition despite Lee Evans producing an excellent 102.48 average during the event.
Kirk Bain collected ten victories on his way to the Isle of Wight Grand Prix 2 title, while Liam Hawthorne won the Under-65 round robin at Bostin Darts 180 Bar and Jack Wright took the Vault Break competition at Rushden Windmill Club.
Another reminder of the depth of grassroots darts
Forty tournaments in a single day tells its own story.
Alongside a major PDC Women's Series event were JDC competitions, regional ADC events, local opens, average-restricted tournaments and money-in-money-out competitions.
That's exactly what I want these daily Q4QS roundups to capture: not simply the biggest names, but the depth of competitive darts taking place every day.
And on a Sunday featuring Greaves, Ashton and Richardson alongside dozens of local winners and emerging juniors, there was plenty worth recording.
