Wednesday produced another packed night of grassroots darts, with 33 tournaments from 2 September added to the Q4QS database.
There was plenty happening across the South and South West, with James Roberts winning at Purton, Steve Perkins taking the Devizes Under-70, Alec McCready winning again at Leominster and Johnny Haines producing the biggest average of the entire day with a sensational 115.62.
Further afield, Bryan Flew was outstanding at Dowlais, Terry Nash came through the Vault 19 warm-up and several more players broke the 100-average barrier.
Haines lights up GWRSA with 115.62
The individual performance of the day came from Johnny Haines in the Inbetween Vault Break 3 at GWRSA Club.
Haines didn't simply win the event — he produced an extraordinary 115.62 average during his run, comfortably the highest number recorded across Wednesday's Q4QS results.
He also added averages of 92.02, 90.18 and 85.89, eventually finishing the tournament with eight victories and defeating Igor Kuroczycki in the final.
That's one of the biggest single-match averages to appear in these daily roundups for some time.
Roberts combines 100.20 with Purton title
There was another ton-plus performance from James Roberts in the Purton Red House Under-70 Round Robin.
Roberts produced a 100.20 average, followed by further performances of 88.41 and 85.89, and finished with eight wins.
Most importantly, he also completed the tournament victory, beating Wayne Franklin 4–0 in the final.
For an average-restricted event, breaking through the 100 mark is particularly eye-catching.
Perkins takes Devizes Under-70
At the Devizes Town Round Robin U70 Average, Steve Perkins emerged with the title.
Perkins and Mike Barton both accumulated eight victories before meeting in the final, with Perkins coming through 4–3.
He also produced the highest recorded average of the tournament at 85.25, just ahead of Andy Evans at 85.00.
Another competitive restricted-average event, and another example of the depth these tournaments are producing.
McCready wins again at Leominster
Alec McCready continued his recent winning form at Leominster & District Darts League.
McCready took the Money In Money Out title after recording seven victories, defeating Chris Hurds 3–0 in the final.
The biggest average of the event actually belonged to Simon Griffiths, who hit 100.20, while James Bradford recorded 92.02 and Hurds reached 88.41.
After McCready's excellent performance in Sunday's results, it is another title to add to what is becoming a very productive spell.
Flew fires 111.33 at Dowlais
If Haines hadn't produced his 115.62, Bryan Flew's 111.33 would have comfortably taken top billing.
Flew was superb in Dowlais RFC Vault Break 3, producing the 111.33, followed by 95.94, 90.18 and two separate 88.41 averages.
He also won the tournament, beating Jack Davies 3–0 in the final and finishing with eight victories.
A title plus that collection of averages makes Flew's run one of Wednesday's strongest all-round performances.
Nash takes Vault 19 warm-up
There was another notable success for Terry Nash at Bagley Sports & Social Club.
Nash came through the Vault 19 Warm Up Money In Money Out, edging Paul Rowley 4–3 in the final.
He also recorded a 100.20 average, alongside 97.12 and 93.94, while Rowley produced an excellent 98.45.
With Vault 19 approaching, that is some very useful form for Nash.
Sartan Club produces another busy Bristol night
Closer to home, the Sartan Club Double Trouble Round Robin produced 75 recorded matches.
Matty Rogers eventually took the title after eight victories, while Alfie Palmer won seven and Warren Ryan, Ryan Smith and Ricky Palmer all collected six.
Rogers and Ricky Palmer shared the best recorded average at 81.24, with Warren Ryan and Luke Harding both reaching 77.08.
Kempster wins Wednesday Under-55
There was also another restricted-average competition in the region, with Jack Kempster taking the Wednesday Night Under-55 Average title.
Kempster recorded seven victories and produced the event's best average of 75.15.
Cameron Oram finished with six wins, while Jack Collins and Alfie Ryan both reached five.
More ton-plus performances
Wednesday was unusually rich in big averages.
Alongside Haines' 115.62 and Flew's 111.33, Adam Mould hit 103.66 at Bradmoor Farm, while William Thomas also produced 103.66 at Vetz Sports and Social Club.
Simon Griffiths, Rico Anderson, James Roberts, Nigel Lamb and Terry Nash all reached 100.20.
Mould's 103.66 came during an event ultimately won by Ross Hales, while William Thomas' big numbers weren't enough to stop Mike Huntley taking the title at Vetz.
Plenty more Wednesday winners
There was plenty more action among the 33 competitions.
Daniel Astbury won the Oddfellows Round Robin with nine victories and an 88.81 best, while Jake Shipley took the Bostin Inbetween Vault and Corey Milward won the Shooters Warm Up.
There were also victories for Ryan-Rai Rushton in the Junior Darts Round Robin, Archie Bourne in the Raging Bullseye Championship Series, Connor Levett at Trojans Whippet and Lucas Llewellyn in the Arrows U55 event.
A huge night for the averages
Thirty-three tournaments is another substantial addition to Q4QS, but Wednesday will probably be remembered most for the scoring.
A 115.62 from Haines, 111.33 from Flew, two 103.66s and five separate players reaching 100.20 made this one of the strongest statistical days in the recent database.
But once again, the daily results also showed why tournament wins matter as much as isolated averages: Roberts, Perkins, McCready, Haines, Flew and Nash all managed to combine strong performances with actually getting the job done.
