Yesterday’s Darts Results – Vernall Wins Again, Leeming Impresses and Field Takes Yeovil Title

 

Friday brought another busy night of grassroots darts, with 37 tournaments added to the Q4QS database from 7 August.

Across the South West there were winners from Gloucester to Yeovil, Taunton, Bristol and Portishead, while some excellent individual performances gave us plenty to pick through.

Shaun Vernall continues his excellent run

One of the biggest stories came at Saintbridge Sports Club in Gloucester, where Shaun Vernall continued his impressive recent form.

Vernall came through the night to defeat Joe Bagguley 3-2 in the final, completing an eight-win tournament. He also produced an 86.42 average against Will Jackson and an 85.89 earlier in the competition.

Bagguley enjoyed another strong Saintbridge performance himself, winning seven matches on his way to the final, while Lee Bradley and Will Jackson recorded six victories apiece. Cameron Oram supplied the highest individual average at the venue with an excellent 88.41.

Leeming lands Bengeworth title

There was another impressive winner at The Bengeworth in Evesham, where Mitchell Leeming defeated Dave Honey 3-1 in the final.

Leeming produced one of the best South West performances of the night along the way, firing a 96.97 average, while he also recorded 88.41 and 84.86 during his run.

Joe Quiney was another player in excellent scoring form. He recorded a 93.84 in victory over Rhys Jackson and an 88.48 despite losing a close encounter with Leeming.

Leeming and Honey both finished the tournament with seven wins, with Quiney collecting five.

Daren Field comes through in Yeovil

At Bullets Sports Bar in Yeovil, it was Daren Field who took the honours after beating Robbie Roy 3-2 in the final.

Field recorded eight victories across the tournament and produced a superb 93.94 average during his run. Robbie Roy won six times on his way to the final, while Phil Bisset also recorded six victories.

It was another good example of the strength of these weekly Vault competitions, with Field combining the title with the standout individual performance of the tournament.

CJ Everrit wins at Hangar 61

Friday night's round robin at Hangar 61 ended with CJ Everrit defeating Joe Waters 3-1 in the final.

Everrit saved his best performance for the final, averaging 85.09 to take the title.

There was plenty of competition throughout the event, with Everrit, Waters, Arun Grewal and Leo Strick all recording four wins. Grewal also produced averages of 73.92 and 72.73 during the night.

Boundy takes the Portishead honours

After featuring in the Q4QS preview, Steve Boundy delivered at Portishead Workmen's Darts.

Boundy completed an eight-win tournament by beating Andy Darbon 3-0 in the final, producing an 81.98 average in the process.

Darbon's seven wins represented an excellent run of his own, while Josh Rose, Jack Collins and John Maggs each picked up five victories.

Spurdle wins in Taunton

Kieran Spurdle was the winner at Pegasus 68 Club in Taunton, defeating Leighton Cox 3-1 in the final.

Spurdle won six matches and produced several solid performances, including averages of 77.08 and 75.95.

Cox actually recorded the night's highest average at the venue – 85.08 – and joined Nigel Wills and Paul Gardiner on five victories.

More South West winners

There was also a title for Finley Bird at Bridgwater Darts Academy, where he defeated Alfie Salter 2-0 in the final. Finley and Tommy Climo both recorded five wins, while Alex Bird produced the competition's highest average of 62.83.

At Sturminster Football Club, Kevin Chase enjoyed an excellent evening. He beat James Wills 3-1 in the final, won six matches and occupied four of the top five recorded averages at the event, including a best of 77.08.

Some huge numbers further afield

Although the Q4QS focus remains primarily on the South West, there were a few performances elsewhere that were simply too good not to mention.

Andy Smith produced the highest average anywhere in Friday's data – a huge 109.98 – and followed it with a 107.36 during his title-winning run at The New Club in Wheatley.

Paul Rowley also broke the ton with 102.48 at The Church Wicketts, while Brian Dolman and Corey Milward both recorded 100.20 performances.

Another busy Friday for Q4QS

The quantity of darts being played every week continues to provide an enormous amount of information for the Q4QS database.

But Friday wasn't simply about volume.

Vernall continued his excellent form at Saintbridge, Leeming produced a 96.97 on his way to the Bengeworth title, Field combined an impressive 93.94 with victory in Yeovil, while Everrit, Boundy and Spurdle were among the other South West winners.

And with another 37 tournaments now added to the database, every night provides a little more information about the players and form developing across the grassroots game.
