Yesterday's Darts Results: Jamie Kay Wins Again, Scott Hill Hits 107.36 and Joshua Russell Shines as 78 Tournaments Are Added

Thursday brought another 78 tournaments into the Q4QS database, with plenty of excellent darts across the country.

There was a particularly interesting story developing in Cornwall, where Jamie Kay collected another title, having already won in Bodmin on Wednesday. This time, he came through a close final against Scott Hill at St Breward AFC & Social Club.

Hill may have lost the final, but his 107.36 average was one of the standout performances of the evening.

Elsewhere, Robbie Long won at Hangar61 in Patchway, Finlay Cleave took the Torquay title, Tommy Sperring won at DartAsylum HQ, George Whyte impressed in Bromley and Joshua Russell produced an outstanding performance in Cardiff.

And it wasn't just the winners who caught my attention. There were several three-figure averages, strong performances from runners-up and four WADC competitions to add to the growing women's darts results.

Jamie Kay continues his winning run in Cornwall

There are some players whose names seem to keep appearing in these results, and Jamie Kay is certainly one of them this week.

After winning at Bodmin Band & Social Club on Wednesday, Kay returned to action at St Breward AFC & Social Club, where he defeated Scott Hill 3–2 in the final.

Kay finished with seven victories and produced a superb 100.20 average against Mason Dower.

However, Scott Hill deserves just as much recognition. His 107.36 against Joshua Meneer was the highest average at the venue, and he followed it with 97.77 against Kieran Gill.

Andrew Cook recorded 96.97 against Laura Kay, while Chris Gill produced 93.94 against Jacob Nurse.

That's five averages above 93 in one competition, with four different players involved.

For me, this was one of the strongest tournaments of Thursday evening, particularly given the quality throughout the field.

And Kay's second title in two days is another developing story worth watching.

Robbie Long takes the Hangar61 title

At Hangar61 in Patchway, Robbie Long defeated Shoey Ayres 3–0 in the final of the Thursday night round robin.

Long collected six victories and recorded a best average of 91.09 against Thomas Goodrich, along with 83.50 against Jamie Harvey.

Interestingly, two other players matched that 91.09 average: Shoey Ayres against Stefan Williams and Martin Harries, also against Williams.

Ayres actually finished with the most victories on the evening, winning eight matches, while Liam Moore and Corey Oates collected six each.

That makes Long's title particularly interesting. He wasn't the player with the most wins across the competition, but he delivered when it mattered.

Finlay Cleave wins a close Torquay final

At Cue Sports Academy in Torquay, Finlay Cleave defeated Jamie Chamberlain 3–2 in the final.

Cleave won six matches and recorded two 75.15 averages, against Jesse Cavanagh and Esteban Richards.

Charlie Sanderson produced the highest average of the event, 81.24 against George Butcher, while Ricky Lait and Chamberlain each recorded five victories.

It was a competitive evening without the enormous averages seen elsewhere, but that's part of what makes grassroots darts interesting.

Not every tournament needs a 100-plus average to produce a worthwhile story.

Tommy Sperring wins at DartAsylum HQ

Tommy Sperring collected seven victories at DartAsylum HQ, defeating Glenn Pearce 3–0 in the final.

Pearce finished with six wins and produced the best average of the competition, 82.26 against Louis Hamblin.

Hamblin recorded 79.60 in the same match, while Jack Wright and Pearce both registered 75.15 averages elsewhere in the event.

Sperring's seven wins made him the most successful player on the night, and he finished the job with a convincing final victory.

George Whyte impresses in Bromley

At Bromley Common Social and Athletic Club, George Whyte defeated Riley James 3–0 in the final.

Whyte recorded eight victories and produced an outstanding 107.36 average against Kiran Patel, followed by 91.09 against Joshua Hogan and 89.82 against James Shulver.

But the highest average of the competition belonged to Tyler Gabriel, who recorded 111.33 against Jay Smith.

Riley James also produced 96.97 against Dan Day and finished with seven victories.

It was another competition where the winner combined a strong run of results with some excellent scoring.

Joshua Russell produces a superb Cardiff performance

At Cardiff County Conservative Club, Joshua Russell defeated Mike Huntley 3–1 in the final.

Russell finished with eight victories and saved his best average for the final itself, producing 104.67 against Huntley.

He also recorded 93.94 against James Lawrence.

Huntley was impressive throughout, with averages of 95.94, 95.93 and 91.19 among his results, finishing with seven victories.

What makes Russell's performance particularly impressive is that the 104.67 came in the match that decided the tournament.

That's a very good way to finish an evening.

More excellent darts around the country

There were several other performances that deserve a mention.

At Brynmawr Social Club, Bryan Flew recorded 107.36 against Dylan Ruck-Havard, although the tournament title went to Marc Hughes, who defeated Aaran Richards 3–1.

At Darfield Conservative Club in Barnsley, both Jack Hill and Tom Outwin hit 107.36 averages, while Carl Wilkinson recorded 100.20 and 96.97. The title went to Josh Ryan, who defeated Steve Wood 3–1.

At Rusthall Club in Tunbridge Wells, Carl Wilson defeated Jack Johnson 3–1 in the final. Johnson produced 107.36 earlier in the evening, but Wilson's averages of 100.20, 98.02 and 96.70 were particularly impressive.

At Pinches Cue Club in Norwich, Darren Brown produced 104.86, 103.66 and 96.97, but James Hubbard took the title after defeating Jack Main 3–2.

At The Wolversdene Club in Andover, Jack Steer defeated David Moule 3–2, despite Moule recording 100.20 earlier in the event.

And at Rushden Windmill Club, James Richardson produced a 100.20 average in his 3–0 final victory over Josh Richardson, completing an eight-win evening.

There's a familiar pattern here. The highest average doesn't always belong to the eventual winner, and that's one of the reasons I like looking at the entire tournament rather than just picking out the biggest numbers.

WADC: Four competitions and four winners

There were four WADC Vault 3.0 tournaments recorded on Thursday, and some particularly good performances among them.

Joanne Oldershaw – Sir John Warren, Ilkeston

Joanne Oldershaw defeated Michelle Adkin 3–1 in the final, recording four victories.

Oldershaw produced the highest average across Thursday's WADC events, 79.03 against Lisa Davie, and also recorded 71.57 and 69.37.

That's an impressive series of averages, and she was my standout WADC performer of the evening.

Kasey Smith – Higher Irlam Social Club

Kasey Smith defeated Danyela Parish-Bolton 3–1 in the final.

Smith produced 59.85 in the deciding match, with both finalists collecting three victories.

Zoe Lane – Bar One, Brynmawr

Zoe Lane defeated Tracey Hickey 2–1 in the final.

Hickey recorded the most victories with four and produced the event's best average of 51.83, but Lane took the title.

Shaunna Hughes – Upper Dovercourt Social Club, Harwich

Shaunna Hughes defeated Kimberley Self 3–1 in the final, winning five matches.

Hughes also recorded the competition's best average, 54.70 against Honie Summerfield.

Four tournaments might not be the busiest WADC evening we've recorded, but there was plenty to recognise, especially Oldershaw's performances in Ilkeston.

Junior Volts: Harrison Doherty impresses in Manchester

There were two JDC Junior Volts events in Thursday's results.

At Higher Irlam Social Club in Manchester, Harrison Doherty defeated James Parr 3–2 in the final.

Doherty won six matches and produced an outstanding 93.94 average against Georgie Gallacher. He also recorded 81.24, 76.33 and 71.57.

That's a strong collection of averages for a junior competition.

At Cogan Coronation in Penarth, Theo Everton defeated Jacob Ingram 3–1 in the final.

Everton recorded six victories, while Ingram finished with five. Dylan Person produced the best average of the competition, 71.57, followed by 65.35.

Doherty's performance in Manchester was particularly impressive, and another reminder of the quality coming through the junior game.

Thursday's standout averages

These are the leading individual match averages recorded in the results.

Player Average Venue
Tyler Gabriel111.33Bromley Common
Scott Hill107.36St Breward
George Whyte107.36Bromley Common
Bryan Flew107.36Brynmawr
Jack Hill107.36Darfield
Tom Outwin107.36Darfield
Jack Johnson107.36Rusthall
Darren Brown104.86Pinches Cue Club
Joshua Russell104.67Cardiff County Conservative Club
Andreas Hajimina103.66The Glebe, Stevenage

Darren Brown also recorded 103.66 at Norwich, and there were several other averages above 100.

My five standout performances

  1. Jamie Kay – A second tournament title in two days, this time at St Breward, with a 100.20 average.
  2. Scott Hill – A 107.36 average, a further 97.77 and a place in the St Breward final.
  3. Joshua Russell – Eight victories in Cardiff and a 104.67 average in the final.
  4. George Whyte – Eight wins, the Bromley title and a 107.36 average.
  5. Harrison Doherty – Six wins and an outstanding 93.94 average in the Manchester Junior Volts event.

Special mentions go to Robbie Long, Darren Brown, Carl Wilson, Joanne Oldershaw and Tyler Gabriel.

Another 78 tournaments added to Q4QS

Thursday's results provided another good mixture of grassroots darts.

We've had established players producing excellent averages, local tournament regulars adding more titles, developing junior talent and another four WADC events.

But the most interesting story for me is Jamie Kay.

Two titles in two days, against different opponents, with another three-figure average thrown in.

It's exactly the sort of form that becomes more meaningful as the Q4QS database grows.

I'll continue following these performances, because the bigger picture is often much more interesting than one isolated result.

JDC VOLTS National Finals 2026 Preview: The Next Generation Heads to Hangar 61

Some of the very best young darts players in the country head to Hangar 61 in Bristol on Saturday for the 2026 JDC VOLTS National Finals.

Throughout the year, youngsters have been competing in JDC VOLTS events around the country. Now that pathway reaches its national conclusion, with a sold-out field of 48 players and considerably more than just the title at stake.

The format should make for a fascinating day. The players are split into eight groups of six, playing best-of-five-leg round robins. The top three from each group progress, but winning the group carries a significant advantage: the eight group winners advance directly to the Last 16, while second and third place must survive an additional play-off.

From there, the knockout matches are best of seven – but there is a major twist at the end.

The final will not be played at Hangar 61.

Instead, the two remaining players will earn the opportunity to contest the best-of-nine-leg final on stage at the PDC World Grand Prix in October. The eventual National Finals champion will also secure a place in the 2027 JPL.

For players at this stage of their development, that makes Saturday a potentially significant day.

A field with plenty of quality

My Q4QS data has matches for 38 of the entrants, with 35 of those already linked to player profiles.

And one player stands out immediately at the top of those rankings.

Jack Johnson comes into the tournament as Q4QS No.197 with an 83.02 Q4QS Average – but even those figures don't quite tell the story of his latest form.

Johnson recently reached a Vault 19 final at Tonbridge with an 88.71 tournament average, before following it with a semi-final at Rusthall where he averaged 89.97. His recent individual performances include 93.94, 90.18 and 91.09 averages.

Those are serious numbers in any company.

But Johnson is certainly not alone.

Logan Symons Jr has been extraordinarily consistent in recent local competition. His latest five recorded tournaments contain two finals and three semi-finals, including a Vault 19 final at Indian Queens where he averaged 85.96. He's 8–2 across his latest ten matches.

Then there is Finlay Cleave, who arrives as one of the hottest players in the field.

Cleave won a Vault 19 event at Paignton with an 82.18 tournament average, including a 91.57 in one victory, and has won nine of his latest ten recorded matches. He also has another recent tournament victory in the database.

JDC experience could matter

There are plenty in this field already accustomed to playing within the JDC structure.

Dylan Cowley has an 8–2 recent record and has already won on the JDC England North Foundation Tour, going 7–0 with an 80.15 tournament average. He has also reached another Foundation Tour final and has a Vault victory averaging 82.04 on his recent record.

Ben Lundstrom is another North Foundation Tour winner. His recent title came via a perfect 7–0 run with a 75.66 average, while an 80.92 and 86.63 feature among his notable match performances.

Alfie O'Flynn-Rogers and Alfie O'Brien have both been competing on the JDC Advanced Tour. O'Flynn-Rogers has produced an 82.14 match average, while O'Brien has an 81.38 on his record and reached the Last 32 of Advanced Tour Event 16.

That experience of playing against strong youth fields could become particularly valuable once Saturday reaches the knockout stages.

Winners arriving from around the country

One of the things I like most about this field is that it genuinely brings together players who have been producing results in different parts of the country.

Jack Powell arrives having won the JDC VOLTS Wales Series 7 Regional Finals, going unbeaten at 5–0 with a 72.15 tournament average. He is also 9–1 across his latest ten matches.

There's a more local interest in Joseph Lauridsen, who won the JDC VOLTS Southwest Series 7 Regional Finals. Lauridsen went 5–0 in that tournament with a 67.17 average and has now won nine of his latest ten recorded matches.

Harvey-Lee Nelson-Harris won the West Midlands Regional Finals, while Remy Stapleton arrives after winning the East Midlands Regional Finals 5–0.

And Charlie Mossman has already enjoyed success in the VOLTS series at The Banckers Draught in Minehead, winning one event 9–0 with a 73.65 average.

So while the Q4QS rankings give us a useful guide, this is exactly the sort of tournament where simply working down a ranking list could be misleading.

Players arriving in form

There are several more who deserve attention.

Addison Hefferon is 8–2 and recently reached a final at the Welsh Open, Masters & Classic, averaging 77.17, before making another semi-final at a Vault 19 event in Bletchley.

Oscar Rumsey comes to Bristol immediately after an unbeaten 8–0 Vault 19 victory, averaging 76.83 for the event. He's 9–1 across his latest ten.

Sam Jones is also 9–1 and won the SDO Academy Development Series 3.4 last time out, while Logun Godbeer has been repeatedly reaching finals in the South West and is 8–2 across his latest ten.

That's before we get to players for whom my database has much less information. Ten entrants are currently unranked in this particular Q4QS export, so there is every chance that some of Saturday's biggest threats are not obvious from the numbers alone.

Six to Follow

Picking six from a 48-player national youth final is inevitably difficult, but these are the six I'll be particularly interested in following.

Jack Johnson – The standout Q4QS numbers in the field, and recent tournament averages of 88.71 and 89.97 suggest a player arriving in outstanding scoring form.

Finlay Cleave – 9–1 recently and already a Vault 19 winner, taking the Paignton title with an 82.18 tournament average.

Logan Symons Jr – Two finals and three semi-finals across the latest five recorded events, including an 85.96 average during a recent Vault 19 final run.

Dylan Cowley – A JDC Foundation Tour winner with an unbeaten 80.15 title run and an 8–2 recent record.

Addison Hefferon – Another 8–2 player who has combined a recent Welsh final with a Vault 19 semi-final.

Jack Powell – Comes into the National Finals as a JDC VOLTS Regional Finals champion and has won nine of the latest ten matches in the database.

There are plenty I could have included instead. Oscar Rumsey, Ben Lundstrom, Joseph Lauridsen, Charlie Mossman and Sam Jones all arrive with recent titles on their records, while several others have already shown they can produce considerably bigger averages than their overall numbers might suggest.

A big opportunity at Hangar 61

For me, this is one of the more interesting tournaments taking place at Hangar 61 this year.

We talk a lot about pathways in darts, but the VOLTS series is a very visible example of one. Players have been competing around the country throughout the year and now 48 of them come together for a National Finals day.

By the end of Saturday, that field will have been reduced to just two.

And those two will have something rather special to look forward to: a final on the PDC World Grand Prix stage in October.

For the eventual winner, there's the additional prize of a 2027 JPL place.

Forty-eight young players arrive at Hangar 61 on Saturday morning.

For two of them, the journey continues onto a much bigger stage.

South & South West Darts Round-Up – Wednesday 1 July 2026

Another busy night of ADC Vault action produced plenty of quality darts across the South West, with several familiar names adding more silverware while others continued their impressive runs of form.

From Patchway and Stonehouse to Exeter, Torquay, Salisbury and Bodmin, there was no shortage of storylines as players chased valuable Vault ranking points.

Ashton Brown Continues Outstanding Form

Few players are enjoying a better spell than Ashton Brown.

Fresh from reaching the final at the Sartan Club earlier in the week, Brown went one better on Wednesday by lifting the Hangar61 Vault title after defeating John Brown 3-0 in the final.

It wasn't just the result that caught the eye. Ashton fired a superb 100.20 average during the evening and extended what has become an excellent run of form in recent weeks.

John Brown also deserves plenty of credit after another deep run, continuing one of the most consistent spells of his season.

Shaun Vernall Wins High-Class Stonehouse Event

The Magpies Social Club once again produced one of the strongest fields of the evening.

Shaun Vernall emerged victorious after edging Josh McCarthy 3-2 in a high-quality final.

Joshua Lewis produced arguably one of the performances of the night despite not winning the tournament, recording a brilliant 111.33 average, while Josh McCarthy also fired a 95.72 average during his run to the final.

Finlay Cleave Triumphs In Torquay

Torquay's Galaxy Sports Bar welcomed another competitive Vault event.

Finlay Cleave claimed the title after defeating Charlie Sanderson 3-1 in the final, with both players enjoying excellent evenings.

Charlie's consistency saw him reach another final, while Cleave produced the highest average of the tournament at 76.40.

Lee Alderman Lifts Exeter Title

The Darts Lounge in Exeter hosted another successful Wednesday evening event.

Lee Alderman defeated Louis Hodge 3-1 in the final to collect another Vault title, producing a composed display throughout the competition.

Martin Walker also impressed with a number of solid performances during the evening.

Martin Grearson Wins Salisbury

Martin Grearson continued his good form by taking victory at Stratford Social Club in Salisbury.

He overcame Robbie Spencer 3-2 in a closely contested final, recording the four highest averages of the tournament on his way to lifting the title.

Bodmin Produces Another Competitive Vault

Bodmin's Vault once again attracted a competitive field.

William Chaffe lifted the trophy after defeating Troi Day 3-0 in the final, while Martin Smith produced several of the tournament's highest averages despite falling short of the title.

South West Standout Performers

🏆 Ashton Brown – Hangar61 Champion (100.20 average)

🏆 Shaun Vernall – Stonehouse Champion

🏆 Lee Alderman – Exeter Champion

🏆 Finlay Cleave – Torquay Champion

🏆 Martin Grearson – Salisbury Champion

🏆 William Chaffe – Bodmin Champion

🔥 Performance of the Night: Joshua Lewis – 111.33 average at Stonehouse.

Another excellent evening demonstrated the incredible strength of grassroots darts across the South West, with established names continuing to deliver and several players producing averages well beyond the 100 mark.
